No Pot Shops, Better Mountain View

Urgent! Please attend the public hearing on Tuesday, March 5, 6:30pm and voice out!

  • The City of Mountain View will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 6:30pm about consideration of amendments to the cannabis regulations. If you have any concerns about pot shops in Mountain View, please attend the meeting and voice out! Address: Second Floor, Mountain View Civic Center, 500 Castro street.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

  • October 2, 2018, Mountain View City Council voted to allow 4 pot shops in Mountain View, two storefront and two delivery. The stores may only have 250 feet buffer to schools and child-care centers as defined in the ordinance SEC. 36.30.60.c.
  • By February 2019, ten pot businesses have applied to open shops in MV, most of them proposed to open shops in downtown.
  • February 12, 2019, City Council agreed to revisit cannabis ordinance.
  • March 5, 2019, public hearing will be held on city hall to amend the cannabis ordinance.
  • Los altos, Palo Alto, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and Milpitas all ban marijuana sales within the city. Fremont even ban the medical delivery.

WHY DO WE OBJECT?

  • Increased crime rate, irresponsible drivers who might cause traffic safety issues, air pollution, loitering and drug exposure to school-age children and teenagers etc.
  • Families and business will be affected.
  • Pot shop owner might make money but city taxpayer might lose more in the long run for all the expense. Main reason that Fremont ban medical delivery is because of this concern from the head of police department.
  • City will lose the healthy image.
